Where is nature?

“But where is the nature?” A child asked us during a visit to the international school in Billund. We looked around; a couple of trees, some rebellious grass fighting its way through the pavement, us? Is this nature? Or is nature only to be found on an excursion to the beach or to the forest? In some exotic countries far away? Together with the kids from the International School of Billund and the Danish Broadcasting company, Pauliina Kittilä and I developed a proposal for a travelling play installation for the yearly festival Circus Summarum: a playful observatory that invites children to explore the direct nature around them using their senses. Supported by a zine to continue playing after the festival. To discover that- even though it might not always seem that way - nature is everywhere around us.
